Our priorities

Courageous Colorado’s priorities were built through an intentional and inclusive process designed to reflect the voices and expertise of people across our state and beyond.

We began with a 20-stop listening tour, visiting communities in every corner of Colorado to hear directly from residents, local leaders, and grassroots organizers. These conversations gave us a clear picture of the challenges and opportunities Coloradans see in their democracy, as well as the courageous leadership already emerging in our towns, cities, and rural regions. We coupled these local insights with consultations from national experts in democracy reform, political representation, and civic innovation, ensuring our work is informed both by lived experience and proven strategies from around the country.

Our Priorities:

  • Campaign Finance Reform

  • Citizen Assemblies

  • Civic Education

  • Election Funding

  • Even Year/ Aligned Voting

  • Legislative Transparency & Bill Cap Reform

Our policy priorities come from our communities and partners, and we are excited to share them with you. If you think this is something you would like to see in your community, please join our movement!

  • Ranked Choice Voting

  • Open Primaries

  • Non-Partisan Elections

  • Proportional Representation

  • Term Limits

  • Vacancy and Caucus Reform

Our next step is to work closely with leaders from across Colorado—spanning the political spectrum, sectors, and regions—to translate these priorities into action. We completed our fall Activation tour last year and this involved collaborative strategy sessions, shared work, and a united push toward building a more representative, courageous, and future-oriented politics. By blending grassroots wisdom, national best practices, and statewide leadership, we are creating a roadmap for change that is both grounded and ambitious.
