About Victoria Scott-Haynes

Victoria Scott-Haynes is a proud East High School and University of Colorado, Boulder graduate. She is passionate about education and has devoted her life to advancing equity, community voice, and educational opportunity for Denver families. She currently works at RootED as the Partner of Community Relations and Administration. She has also worked as the executive assistant to the Chief of Staff at Denver Public Schools and has continued to serve on several boards both in Denver and throughout the state. 

Victoria is also a veteran community leader and political strategist who has played pivotal roles on many successful campaigns, such as Mayor Michael Hancock, DPS Board President Nate Easley, Governor Bill Ritter, President Barack Obama and – as a young girl – Lt. Governor George Brown, who became the first African-American elected to a statewide office in 1975. She has always aligned her work with a deep commitment to public service. 

Victoria has received numerous awards such as the Tribute to Black Youth Award for Outstanding Community Service, a Woman Making History award from the Colorado Black Women for Political Action, the Denver7 Everyday Hero award, a proclamation from Denver Public Schools, and Advocate of the Year from the Colorado League of Charter Schools.
